my academia barbie study routine

my academia barbie study routine

💌 listen in lectures, professors are known for repeating important information, as well as bolding the info in their powerpoints. if they mention a chart, reading, or video that they think you should watch, watch it. i handwrite my notes using notability on my iPad, it helps me retain the info and it's an active way to learn.

💌 flashcards! repetition is very important. i use digital flashcards on quizlet, they're quick and easy to make and i don't have to deal with my hand cramping up after making hundreds of cards. i make a 'class' on quizlet for the course i'm in, and a folder for each exam. then i go through the decks daily until the information is memorized.

💌 the method i use is a combination of spaced repetition and active recall.  the first few days i'm introduced to my course info is when i study the most, then i'll take a day off for my brain to get a chance to forget. i'll study again the next day to interrupt the forgetting curve, and make it easier for the information to become solid in my head.

💌 active recall involves asking myself questions about the info and answering them either out loud or in my head. when i first learn to info i prefer to answer out loud because it sticks much faster that way.

💌 as exam day approaches, i focus on studying decks that i'm most unfamiliar with. there's no reason to spend hours on info that's already been solidified.

💌 a day or two before exams, i meet with my study buddy and we go through everything. the powerpoints, notes, flashcards, videos on things we don't understand that much on. we talk out concepts and correct each other if there's something we don'u understand.

💌 i stop all studying the afternoon before my exam. i do not cram, i do not pull all nighters. the afternoon/ evening before exams is for relaxing, cleaning, anything but school related things. i have bad test anxiety so reviewing too close to test day makes me start to doubt myself a lot even though i know the information. i'd rather get my studying done early and feel comfortable with the info weeks in advance than try to play catch up at the last minute.

💌 if a method does not work for you, don't ever do it again. you'd be wasting your time. find your method, and stick with it! your brains processes info in its own unique way so hone in on that and perfect it as much as you can!

love you all. please do not hesitate to comment anything you would like me to talk about. - bella ♡
